Last Minute NSale Picks: Baby & Kids

As I am sure you are aware the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is going on right now.  (You can see our picks from the start of the sale here).  The sale ends August 8, which means there is exactly 5 days left to shop.  We have been noticing  a handful of incredible Baby & Kids picks.  Some that we swear by as moms and others that will help with back to school prep.  Below is our last minute NSale picks for Baby & Kids.

JU JU BE Legacy BFF Diaper Bag – I live and die by this diaper bag.  With my first and for the first 8 months of my second’s life I used a large Marc Jacobs diaper bag tote.  It was super cute, but this JU JU BE Diaper Bag changed my life.  It is stylish, easy to see everything in your bag, and most importantly it can be worn as a backpack, saving your arms for corralling children.

Flower Crown Tutorial

Ever since my oldest wore a flower crown in my brother in law’s wedding I have been convinced that I can make one.  Then Co’s oldest wore one recently in a wedding and I was sold.  I had to try it. How hard could it be?!

I’m here to tell you, it’s not that hard!  It just takes a little patience and “creativity” to get through the first one!

 Flower Crown Tutorial

I picked up some flowers and greenery at my local Whole Foods (they have the best flowers in my opinion).  I stuck with baby’s breath and daisies for the flowers.  The peonies pictured below were for a gift bouquet but I left them in the picture because they were so pretty!

Then I picked up floral wire and floral tape at Hobby Lobby, but I am sure you can find these at any craft store.  If you don’t have some already, pick up a pair of wire cutters while you are there too.  They will make this project so much easier.  Hobby Lobby also had grapevine wire, which I think could look really pretty if you wanted to try to use that in place of the green floral wire for the crown (you will still need the green wire to secure the flowers to the crown).

Summer Photoshoot and Target Dresses

I try my best to take mini themed pictures of the girls each season.  When I saw these Stripe Sun Dresses by Genuine Kids from Oshkosh at Target I immediately thought up a Summer/Memorial Day/July 4th Theme in my head!

How cute are these dresses!

The best part (which I missed out on but you definitely shouldn’t) is dresses at target are BOGO 50% off right now!  I personally feel like the kids clothing selection at target can be hit or miss and right now it’s definitely a hit. There are a handful of summer dresses that I have my eye on for the girls. The current BOGO sale is a great time to stock up. Continue reading

Style Files: Swim

It’s swimsuit season here in Florida. Can I get an Amen? Unfortunately that also means we’ve arrived at “you need a shower every day season” …because you can break a sweat just walking from the front door to the car in the driveway and can no longer throw on a large sweatshirt and hat to hide your body while running errands. You win some, you lose some.

Aside from the warmer weather we’ve had lately my husband has an upcoming bachelor party to attend in Puerto Rico, I have a bachelorette I’ve been planning for a good friend in Miami and the pool is a good time killer with the little ones when it’s 100 degrees outside. So, from all angles we will need swimwear to get us though this Spring and Summer. Here are my picks for the entire family.

MEN:

  1. Navy and Black Color Block
  2. Turquoise Board Shorts
  3. Blue Wave Board shorts
  4. Cream Color Block
  5. Straw HatMen’s Swim

WOMEN:

  1. Tribal Print with High Waist Bottoms
  2. Tropical Bikini
  3. Zip Up One Piece
  4. Ruffled One Piece – Black or White Option
  5. Tortoise Shell Sunnies
  6. White Marbled Sunnies

Style Files: Little Girls Spring Style

It is no secret that C and I love to shop.  More than shopping I get a rush from styling my two littles to coordinate.  Not match but coordinate.   I also get incredible joy from finding pieces for their wardrobe that are not only affordable and stylish but are versatile and can be used for a number of different outfits.  Because, let’s be completely honest, as much as I love dressing my girls I absolutely do not want to spend more money on their wardrobe than I do my own.  The primary reasons being, they grow out of it way too fast and the mass amounts of food that end up on their clothes.

With that said, President’s Day sales start this weekend and Spring is upon us (dreaming of 70 degree weather over here).  To help achieve my goal of perfect coordination I, as well as C, like to put together powerpoints to make vision boards if you will.  (C is the absolute guru at powerpoint vision boards – if you need one, get in touch!)  Below, I have compiled my favorites from Gap for the little ladies.  There are numerous pieces listed that I can attest are THE best and go with multiple outfits (the moccasins, hint hint).

Simple Kids Valentine Party

IMG_6264

Courtney and I are constantly talking about the multitude of ideas running through our heads of fun things we could do with our kids.  Planning and creating is so fun for us and our kids get to enjoy the fruits of our labor (if you can even classify it as labor).

A week ago we decided we wanted to surprise the littles with a Valentine’s Day themed party to help welcome February and get everyone in the spirit of love.  We are in the business of spreading out holidays for a long as possible; everyone is generally in a better mood when there is a holiday to celebrate.  If nothing else, it was a good excuse to dress the kids in the Love Day clothes we had both recently purchased and get a few good pictures!
